A/C Adaptor, A/C Power Charger:
The A/C Adaptor and A/C Power Charger are alternative names for the home charger.

CLA:
CLA stands for Cigarette Lighter Adaptor. A CLA plugs into the cigarette lighter in a car. The Nextar CLA Power Charger can be used to charge or power a Nextar device in a car.

Bluetooth®:
Bluetooth enables information to be sent between electronic devices that have Bluetooth. If you use Bluetooth you don't need to connect the devices together using wires.

Bluetooth® connection:
Before you can use Bluetooth to send information, you have to establish a Bluetooth connection between your electronic devices.

Car Charger:
Using the car charger, you can charge or power your Nextar device in the car. Plug the car charger into your device or docking shoe, and into the CLA (cigarette lighter adaptor) in the car.

Download:
Describes the process of transferring files from a location on the internet to your computer or to your Nextar device. To download files to your Nextar device you need to use a wireless data connection.

GPS:
GPS stands for Global Positioning System (GPS). GPS uses satellites to locate your current position. There is no charge for using the GPS system. In order to locate your position, your Nextar device must have a clear view of the sky. It will not work if you are inside a building or in a tunnel. It is not affected by the weather conditions and works anywhere in the world. GPS is operated and controlled by the Government of the United States of America, who are responsible for its availability and accuracy.

Home Charger:
Using the home charger, you can charge or power your Nextar device at home. Plug the home charger into your device and into a standard power socket.

Memory Card:
A memory card is used to store information. Some Nextar products use a memory card to store the Nextar application and maps. There are many different types of memory cards. At the moment, Nextar products can be bought that use the following kinds of memory cards:

  • SD Cards
  • RS-MMC Cards
  • Mini SD Card
  • Memory Stick PRO Duo

Memory Stick PRO Duo:
A Memory Stick PRO Duo is a type of memory card.

Mini SD Card:
An Mini SD card is a type of memory card. Mini SD stands for Mini Secure Digital.

POI:
POI stands for Point of Interest. A POI can be any interesting place, for example a restaurant, a cinema, or a hospital. Maps that come with Nextar products include lots of POIs.

RS-MMC card:
An RS-MMC card is a type of memory card. RS-MMC stands for Reduced Size Multimedia Card.

SD Card:
An SD card is a type of memory card. SD stands for Secure Digital.

SDK:
SDK stands for Software Development Kit. SDKs are used by software developers to create programs. An SDK is usually made up of a set of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), and may include programming tools and documentation.

Update:
An update is a new release of an existing version of the Nextar application. Updates are indicated by a small change in the version number of the application. For example, 5.1 is an update of 5.0. Updates are available free of charge to existing customers. For example: If you have a P7 Navigation system, you can download the latest version of the application for your P7. This is called an update.

USB:
USB is a simple way to connect devices to a computer so that information can be exchanged. Using a USB cable, you can connect a device, such as a Nextar GO, to the USB port on a computer. Both the device and the computer must have a USB port. USB stands for Universal Serial Bus.

Zip File:
A zip file is a file that contains one or more other files. The files in the zip file are compressed so that they are smaller. As they are smaller, zip files can be downloaded from the internet more quickly. To use the files in a zip file, they must be extracted. There are lots of free programs available on the internet which can extract files from a zip file.
